96. R.E.M.: Automatic For the People
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
For all you idiots who have been listening to the last 94 episodes, this is our Home Improvement episode, this is where we're at! More power. For all you new listeners that are here for the music, quit your whiffing and start your sniffing, because this is the best podcast about R.E.M. and the 95th greatest album of all time, Automatic for the People.
However, before we get to the album there was some hanky panky Lovecraft going on when we discussed the best stone fruits, outdoor concert etiquette, and how Beck Did it Better has become the most popular podcast on the Samsung Free App. We also share some pizza hot take and bakes addressing the worst kind of pizza, party cuts, and small sausage issues.
Then at (51:00) we took a walk around a misty swamp and Michael Stipe popped out so we decided to talk about R.E.M.'s melancholy alternative rock album, Automatic for the People. We discuss how the mood of this album diverged from R.E.M.'s prior albums, the most perfect song ever, and skinny dipping with R.W. Discoballs. We also run down the best rock songs with drum machines in our sneaky beat of the week.

Next week your disposable heroes will be twisting your minds and smashing your dreams when we become the best Metallica podcast and welcome you home to our sanitarium of thrash metal and talk Master of Puppets.

PRINCE: PURPLE RAIN (BEST OF BECK DID IT BETTER)
Tuesday Jun 07, 2022
Tuesday Jun 07, 2022
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE!! We are rereleasing our Prince eps to celebrate Prince's birthday, the completion of the Prince mural in Minneapolis, and the unveiling of the commemorative street name Prince Rogers Nelson Way!
We are re-releasing an actually good episode, PRINCE! (Aaron lives in his garage in this one!)
Minnesotans love three things, Minnesota, things with pictures of Minnesota on them, and people from Minnesota! Therefore we LOVE Prince!
And so should you! It's also is AARON'S MOM'S Birthday so happy birthday to aaronsmom@gmail.com
Listen... we talk about a lot of stuff in this episode. It might be our best ever. But none of that matters. Aaron is currently living in his garage and needs to crawl out a window to go to the bathroom. It is all I can think about.
Matt hates Halloween and the BIG BOPPER makes a comeback. But that is all background noise compared to Aaron being locked into his garage at night by his wife.
We talk about how Prince is loved by Minnesotans and how he is the epitome of sex. But what we really want to hear is how Aaron has to sleep on an air mattress at night.
Finally, we debate how many guitar solos is too many, we have a list of the greatest movie songs of all time, but no one cares because we are all visualizing Aaron trying to sleep as rats run around the garage.

94. The Stooges: Fun House (1970)
Tuesday May 31, 2022
Tuesday May 31, 2022
OK, we admit it. We have been on a number of dates to psychedelic improv shows with other listeners before. But this week we're here to make some special memories with you when we become the best podcast about the Stooges and the 94th greatest album of all time, Fun House.
But before we get to the album, a voicemail schools the guys on the A.C. Slater, making this our best podcast about Saved by the Bell. Then the guys discuss improv comedy shows, Rube Goldberg machines, how much of your dating history should you share. A couple of the guys also get further on the edge on a Flight Tonight, and its gets hotter than intensity.
Then at (52:00) we're talking about The Stooges' second studio album, Fun House, led by Iggy Pop, or Iggy Soda for our east coast listeners out there. We discuss how the punk movement was a rejection of the hippies, how this is a companion piece to the emerging funk genre, and the best screams in rock music. We also become the best podcast about Greek mythology and mathematicians when the guys explore Rob's Sisaphysian ordeal and the Archimides' screw.

Buy a shirt here every cent goes to charity
Next week we become the best Drake podcast when we talk about Drizzy's hip-hop R&B album and we can guarantee that the Pino grigio spritzers will be flowing!

93. Missy Elliott: Supa Dupa Fly (1997)
Tuesday May 24, 2022
Tuesday May 24, 2022
If this week's episode were a pop flavor it would be Mountain Dew Flaming Hot! Because this is the best Missy Elliott podcast that covers the 93rd greatest album of all time, Supa Dupa Fly...
But before discussing the Misdemeanor, a listener calls in and commits a Rolling Felon when he rats out one of the guys for writing a love song about having a sandwich in his pocket. In addition, we're riding the friendly skies again with a couple of segments of Flight Tonight and discussing whether Beck should be opening for Arcade Fire. We then talk Turner and Hooch, Who Got the Hooch, and baba ganoush...OK actually, somebody made us talk about nutritional yeast, and the nooch got loose.
Then at (59:00) we're chatting about Missy Elliott's debut studio album, Supa Dupa Fly. We discuss how Missy Elliot's first album was produced by her own label, the best Timbaland songs, and whether the singing and rapping on this album was a precursor to Drake (the rapper...not the relays you Iowa listeners).

Next week we become the best The Stooges podcast when we talk about the proto-punk album, Fun House. If you were going to compare next week's episode to a pop it would be Coke's MagiCan because it comes with prizes and foul smelling substances that discourage consumption. Seriously, check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagiCan
