76. Curtis Mayfield: Super Fly (1972)
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Here is a quote from Russell's notes. "The first 10 minutes are slow but once we get to Rolling Going's, I thought this episode crushed."
That's a true 5 star review.
OHHHHH baby..... Listen, the album is great, it's funky, and Aaron watched the corresponding movie to this soundtrack but none of that matters. Aaron drops a BOMB on the podcast AGAIN! Just when you thought we couldn't get any more juice from that sweet sweet orange! We DID! Aaron is truly the gift that keeps on giving. If you love intercoms, you are guaranteed to love this ep.
We are talking about French Raffi, how Aaron uses a cart, Aaron somehow takes his kid sledding in a parking lot, Rob reveals a secret about his WIFE, and Matt grumbles about restocking shelves.
Then we talk Curtis Mayfield and the soundtrack to Super Fly. It is jamming and would be a cool a hell soundtrack for anyone's life. From my research we are now the best Curtis Mayfield podcast.
Think Rob is right? Let us know on the beck line via call or text 802-277-BECK

Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Oh baby, have we got a great album and a legit great episode this week. We are becoming the best Aretha Franklin podcast with our conversation about Lady Soul. The voice is the best, the bass is funky and you know we are talking about Muscle Shoals! (If you haven't watched the Muscle Shoals doc, you need to!)
Aaron is done with legos, Russ needs some New Year's Eve advice, Matt is getting offered too much gum, and Rob gets moist at the trampoline park. We talk movies and finally get a swamper list.

74. Kanye West: The College Dropout
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Are we the "best Kanye Podcast?" Yes. We are covering his first album as a rapper and it is a BANGER. We get into but first, Aaron hits the ice, describes a burger in detail, Matt is now addicted to solo meals, and Russ gets further into his trip to Nashville.
THEN AARON BLOWS THE DOORS OFF WITH PROBABLY THE "BIGGEST" REVELATION EVER ON THE PODCAST.
Then we talk about the album, and we get tenor so lists.

73. My Bloody Valentine: Loveless (1991)
Tuesday Jan 04, 2022
Tuesday Jan 04, 2022
We did it. We are the best shoegaze podcast!
Imagine a top 100 album where you can barely make out a single lyric. Imagine 4 cool dudes trying to talk about this album. Now you see why I am so grumpy all of the time. We are becoming a shoegaze podcast when we talk about My Bloody Valentine.
Rob is talking bathtime, Aaron's son is just the best, Russ is off to Nashville and Matt comes up with a brilliant business idea. Then we talk advent calendars and finally talk about all the bands influenced by an album that none of us were very familiar with. If the episode sounds echoey, just know that we were recording in the garage.
Also, Aaron makes a list that will make you realize just how sweet Aaron really is.

72. Neil Young: Harvest (1972)
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
Welcome to the best Neil Young podcast out there. If you want to support Neil Young, this podcast is the place to start! This is easily the best podcast about Harvest.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT. I know some of you foot freaks skip the music part but there is a segment after the album where we are like a bad train, we go off the rails and it is fun so don't miss it. This was recently voted by Russ to be a top 5 "off the rails" episode. Did we need almost two hours to cover a 42-minute album? Yes! How do you expect us to become the best Neil Young podcast and the best podcast about Harvest if we don't also talk about our Mount Rushmore of Canadian Artists? (hint: it ain't called mount rush-less)
In this episode, Rob finds out how far is too far with his parody song, Aaron talks about eating shrimp tails and Rob realizes he didn't go far enough with the song. Matt talks about getting snubbed as a roadie, we plan our first live show, and Aaron talks about his family's favorite Christmas carol.
We talk Neil Young and slide guitars and Russell's cocktail game continues to be on point.
Contact us at beckdiditbetter@gmail.com and call or text 218-341-BECK. You can also follow us @beckdiditbetter on Instagram and Twitter but there is not much going on there. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME YOU WERE "Thinking about calling into the Beck Line!" Just do it.
NEXT WEEK: We get into some shoegazing with Loveless by My Bloody Valentine.
