92. The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Axis: Bold as Love (1967)
Tuesday May 17, 2022
Tuesday May 17, 2022
You don't have to wait until tomorrow for another great podcast, because this week Beck Did it Better is the best podcast about Jimi Hendrix and the 92nd greatest album of all time, Axis: Bold as Love, not to be confused with Hendrix's other great albums with Underline as Love or Subscript as Love.
But before we listen to Jimi we get a live call in from the Drake Relays, making this the best track and field podcast to listen to. In addition, the guys cut loose talking consumer slogans that we just can't quit, the best BBQ restaurants in the southeast and Minneapolis, and taking in a show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. In addition, Rob has a habit that Aaron declares is the weirdest thing he has ever heard on the podcast.
Then at (48:00) we talk about Jimi Hendrix's third album on the list, Axis: Bold as Love. We discuss the jazz influence on this album, what direction Hendrix would have taken had he lived past 27, and how Jimi Hendrix ruined Eric Clapton's life. We also run down the best songs not sung by the lead singer. The conversation on this episode is truly slow roasted.

This episode will fall into the sea, eventually, but don't worry, because next week's episode is the bomb diggy and the best Missy Elliott podcast when we talk Supa Dupa Fly.

91. Bruce Springsteen: Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978)
Tuesday May 10, 2022
Tuesday May 10, 2022
This week Beck Did it Better takes you to the promised land with a hilarious episode that everyone will enjoy unless you're a dumbshit podcast commenter on Facebook that thinks our 90's morning radio show doesn't really qualify as a podcast. Regardless, this is the best podcast about Bruce Springsteen and the 91st greatest album of all time, Darkness on the Edge of Town.
But before we get to the album, there is some darkness on the edge of this episode when a Facebook commenter provides a critique of the podcast and specifically the vocal stylings of the main host. Then the guys are honoring all the mothers out there by sharing our favorite mother's day memories. The conversation also touches on the concert of a lifetime, that the main host had nothing to do with, our favorite jobs that didn't make the resume, and whether our dozens of fans think we should just end this quest already. And this week we're running a special, where you'll save big money, you'll save big money when you download this podcast for free.
Then at (55:00) minutes, we talk about Bruce Springsteen's heartland rock album, Darkness on the Edge of Town. We discuss big builds, Springsteen's four corners approach to album creation, and the best songs about cars.

90. Neil Young: After the Gold Rush (1970)
Tuesday May 03, 2022
Tuesday May 03, 2022
Rolling Stone named this week's episode the "Ayer's Jordan" of podcasts as the guys cover After the Gold Rush, proving once again that Beck Did it Better is the best podcast about Neil Young.
But before the Gold Rush, Rob and the co-hosts share some stories that will surely cause you to experience an Enviornmentalisom! First Aaron makes this the best coffee podcast to listen to into 2022 when he talks about new coffee day, which is sure to give you good vibes. Matt asks, what's that smell as he boards a plane for another segment of Flight Tonight! Russ shares his experience at a gut wrenching Timberwolves game. If you're one of the adults clapping thundersticks at the game, we don't need you, but please keep downloading. Then Rob updates the audience on the ice cream developments in his life and how he never makes charitable contributions.
Then the content on the podcast finally rises above a dull surface at (42:00) when we talk about Neil Young's socially conscious album, After the Gold Rush. We discuss D modal guitar tuning, the best vibraphone songs, and how the album was inspired by a screenplay written by some dude on Quantum Leap. This does make us the best, and only, Quantum Leap podcast.

Next week, the guys are taking the podcast on the road to the Jersey Shore, where we'll gym, tan, laundry and act like we're the best Bruce Springsteen podcast when we cover Darkness on the Edge of Town.

89. Erykah Badu: Baduizm (1997)
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
Bottom line...episode 89 is the best podcast about Erykah Badu.
But before we talk about the album we are there for you (when our drinks start to pour), we're there for you (like we've been about 100 episodes before), we're there for you (because you Beckerheads are there for us too). Matt shares his experience of meeting a celebrity. Aaron's eating canned fish and has an American cheese ramen trick. We also become the best sports card podcast when Russ gets some old school cards. Then Rob lets us know what he wears to bed. If you think you have it figured out, au contraire.
Then at (56:00) we talk about Erykah Badu's debut album, Baduizm. We discuss the Roots' involvement in this record, crackling vinyl static, and the songs and artists that influenced neo-soul music.

Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
This week's podcast is truly an extrava danza for all you pretty things as we prove again that Beck Did it Better is the best podcast about David Bowie when we cover Hunky Dory. And to clarify, we're not talking about that fish from Finding Nemo. So just close your Bing browsers now.
But before the guys get to the album, we become the best podcast about cars when Aaron shares an unfortunate, but funny, story about how his new car met his retaining wall. Matt answers whether it's ok to sit across from your spouse on a plane in another Flight Tonight. Then the guys talk about fine dining when Russell is eating in the dark, chowing down snacks and eating slices of pork, why did we wear nice clothes. Rob also asks the listeners if people know what a cakewalk is. And if you just searched, "Is Mona Alive?" and landed here, we are definitely the podcast for you.
Then at 59:00 we talk about David Bowie's piano pop rock album Hunky Dory. We discuss whether the Beatles influenced this album, what Bowie's lyrics mean, and the best songs recorded on the Trident Studio's Bechstein grand piano.
Finally, the guys share their experiences of when they found out they were going to be a parent, and for some it was never a long journey.
