82. Sly and the Family Stone: There’s a Riot Going On (1971)

There's a Riot Going On on the podcast this week as we become the best Sly and the Family Stone podcast. And this episode is definitely not a quiet riot.

 

Before we get to the album Rob checks a listener and shares the best songs with robot voices which will alter your gas station going experience forever. In addition, Aaron is giving standing ovations at the children's theater, Matt's sharing hot takes on Luka Donavich and the best Malcolm Gladwell books, and Russ starts a debate on the best dipping sauce for cheese curds.

 

Then at (53:00) we talk about one of the most influential funk bands Sly and the Family Stone finally, and discuss overdubbing, the drum machine, and the best songs with yodeling.

 

Finally, Rob's having dinner with the Hamburglar and he's a nasty brat that refuses to steal hamburgers. Robble Robble.

This week we are the best Beyonce podcast as we talk Beyonce's eponymous album...Beyonce!

 

But before we get into the album we're discussing the best songs to get you in the mood and Aaron introduces us to an avant garde piece that all you parents will love. And the silence you'll hear, is not Lambeau field. In addition, Matt's looking for tips on taking your kids to Disney World, Russ is looking for hookah bar advice, and Rob wants to know, why do people say bless you (or gazoontite). Then Aaron tells us that he's a boss! Not a boss, like in an extremely cool way. But literally, a supervisor of numerous employees.

 

Then we talk about the most important artist of our generation, Beyonce, and discuss how she makes herself relatable, the Houston sound, and not remembering how you ended up in the kitchen.

 

Finally, we answer an important question: Do all skittles colors have the same flavor and does that rule apply to skittles infused vodka? The answer can be found somewhere over the rainbow.

80. Sex Pistols: Never Mind the Bollocks, Here Comes the Sex Pistols (1977)

This week we are the best Sex Pistols podcast as we talk Never Mind the Bollocks, Here Comes the Sex Pistols.

 

But before we become a punk music podcast, we are actually the best Peloton podcast. Warning, your Peloton rides will never be the same again after listening to this episode. In addition, Aaron is teaching us how to clean your vinyl, Russ goes to a bar that celebrates the 27 Club, and Rob is annoyed that people don't know how to give a standing ovation. Matt also can't stand Sports Center because its just a bunch of talking heads giving stupid opinions and rankings. Doesn't sound familiar at all!

 

Then we talk the Sex Pistols, and discuss how they were influenced by reggae, are they actually a boy band, and compare this album to Abe Lincoln's top hat. 

 

Then we debut the hot new game show, Sid Vicious or Big Sid Vicious and become the best music anime podcast. And if you're not down with that, have a taste of me knucks! Because Beck Did it Better is playing checkers and Mongolian Chop Squad Did it Better is playing chess.

UPDATE: Hey, I made some fixes so you can clearly hear me say, "Check out my metallic Dong!" This is my art. 

 

 

We become the best Frank Ocean podcast and we talk Blonde. We talk Superbowl halftime show, Matt makes a plane old mistake and now he hates Chipotle. Aaron heads out for a fun day at the beach, gets a fun text from Rob, and Russ has finally nailed down what exactly a service charge is. Rob talks valentines telegrams and no one knows what he is talking about.

 

Then we talk Frank Ocean but the guys mostly admit they are dumb when they say they DON'T LIKE PEPPERMINT PATTIES!!!! WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS. 

Then at the end, Rob thought the episode was bombing so he tells a humiliating dating story.  Again, this is my art.

We are the best Elvis podcast but don't click here if you are looking for lord of the rings stuff. That is Elvish. 

We talk about Elvis, how this album is a weird Elvis album to put on the list, and how you can oil up your arms to get the armrest on the plane. 

 

Aaron talks veggie burgers and Goodwill Hunting, Russ is flying again, Matt is still churning through the list and has bad news, and Rob has his own personal Olympics. 

 

We continue to contact the dead, delve into why Elvis is both a cultural touchstone and an example of systemic racism, and Russ is slapping it again. 

 

Finally, Matt just wants to go to bed but our favorite condiment is back on the phone.
